For a pilot project in automation, our customer opted for a modular XY gantry system comprising our linear axes and other HIWIN components. The solution is designed for the safe handling of various aluminium profiles and the precise insertion of a functional component in a prototype system.
Our HM-S linear modules with spindle drive were used as the basis for handling the aluminium profiles. These were sized in collaboration with the customer to meet the specific project requirements and were optimally adapted to the application in terms of installation space, rigidity and repeatability. The system was supplemented by rolled ballscrews, suitable fixed bearing units and profile rail guides from the HG series. The linear modules used offer high rigidity even with long strokes and can be combined into a complete multi-axis system without requiring additional design effort. At the same time, the XY gantry could be easily integrated into the existing control architecture. The functional component was introduced via an X-Y cross table, consisting of two linear tables with toothed belt drives. This demonstrates just how versatile our linear axes are when combined to create customised and high-performance system solutions.
