Portal machine for injection moulds

In the manufacture of injection moulds for visible plastic components for a premium car manufacturer, our HIWIN UR linear guides and a TM-5 torque motor in the swivel head are used in a modern gantry machine. This combination enables high-precision machining of complex mould inserts and free-form surfaces, and meets the most stringent requirements for surface finish, accuracy and process reliability.

Thanks to its backlash-free direct drive, the HIWIN TM-5 torque motor ensures a particularly precise rotational movement of the swivel head. The high positioning accuracy enables exact approach even to complex contours. At the same time, dynamic simultaneous movements and high path accuracy support the precise machining of demanding free-form surfaces. This allows high-quality surfaces to be achieved and reduces the need for reworking.
The HIWIN UR linear guides form the basis for stable and precise movement of the machine axes. Thanks to their high rigidity and load-bearing capacity, they reliably absorb even high machining forces. The high accuracy and smooth running ensure consistent milling results with a high surface finish and guarantee compliance with tight manufacturing tolerances throughout the entire machining process.
The combination of the TM-5 torque motor and UR linear guides creates the ideal conditions for the cost-effective production of high-quality injection moulds. Complex geometries can be machined with precision, high surface qualities achieved and reworking times significantly reduced.
