An electric actuator can perform automated pick&place tasks, for example. For accurate positioning of components from a conveyor belt to a test station, the system waits in its home position for a signal from the sensor that detects a component on the conveyor belt. The cylinder moves downwards, a gripper mounted on it closes and picks up the component. The cylinder then moves upwards, travels to the test station and deposits the component there. The cylinder returns to its home position. The cycle begins again.
